The Tester on Playstation Network

Sony now has open casting for their new reality show titled The Tester. This heart breaking, man making, battle of the wills reality show will make a group of gamers face off with their knowledge of video games, test their mental toughness, and their endurance in a series of elimination challenges created by Sony.

The Tester will be on the Playstation Network as a series of programs available for you to watch. Exciting right? The victor of the reality show will have the blessing of working for Sony and landing a job in the Quality Assurance department in San Diego, California, giving you the opportunity to work on some of the most popular upcoming Playstation 3 titles. This is limited to US citizens over the age of 21, by the way, so that cuts out many of you who were hoping to enter this program.

The Tester will be an eight episode show, and is being developed by some of the top reality show making minds. The people behind the flavor of love, and all of the other whorish reality series that you find on tv today. So this is probably their least perverted and cliche reality show yet. I'm personally expecting this thing to be a cheesy bomb that won't really attract users after the first episode. If anything, people would watch just to see who gets the job, in which case, they'd probably just wait until the 8th episode. I can't really imagine seeing any action, tears or drama in a show about testing video game knowledge and prowess. Unless they force them to do physical activities as well, in which case, I don't see what that has to do with entering the Quality Assurance field.

For those of you who think Quality Assurance is the dream job, well, you're quite wrong. Quality Assurance is one of the least paid jobs in the gaming industry, and is probably laughed at. It's something you get when you can't manage to do anything more important than just video game testing, no offense. Maybe some people look forward to it, but if you've read stories and feedback about anyone who's been a Quality Assurance in the gaming industry, you'd know why I say this. The Tester touts the Quality Assurance as a dream job, but it hardly is. However, being in Quality Assurance is a great place to start to get your foot in the door of the gaming industry, because then you can transfer into being a producer after a couple of years, and with experience, you can expect to make a six figure salary.

Anyway, The Tester is something you should expect to see on the Playstation Network some time soon.
